ABSTRACT

Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome and diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis are frequent diseases in the elderly, however its association has rarely been described.

The authors describe a case of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome in a patient with diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis, with a giant osteophyt of the cervical column, which leads to obstruction of the pharynx and they discuss the association between both entities.
